Gilbert
van Reenen
In
1995 Gilbert turned his life long interest and passion for
photography into a second career and rapidly gained a reputation
as a professional photographer.
Gilbert specialises in commercial editorial and illustrative
assignments for advertising and publications. He has developed
a portfolio of highly distinctive images which are widely
sought after as archival art prints and murals for decor in
private and public buildings in many parts of the world.
He has gained over thirty merit awards in the NZ institute
of Professional Photography annual competition and has had
numerous successful exhibitions throughout the Otago region.
Gilbert recently received a merit award in the Kodak Gold
Awards and one of his works was selected by Tourism New Zealand
to be used in the New York Times in connection with the LOTR
and Peter Jackson Oscar Award successes.
Gilbert's Photographs are available in different sizes - many
of his mural works are 2 meters in width. Due to the quality
of Gilbert's Photography, his works do not lose any colour,
detail or clarity when enlarged on this sort of scale. The
larger pieces can also be printed onto metallic/reflective
paper giving the works a glow and they come laminated with
a UV barrier.
Gilbert has released two publications of his work - Central
Otago (2004) and New
Zealand South
(2005). Both these bokks give an insight into the immense
talent of Gilbert Van Reenen.
