Lori
was born in 1979; a first generation Kiwi with Australian
and Samoan roots. She grew up in the largely state-housing
area of Elsdon, Porirua. The State House played a central
role to her first exhibition with two other local artists
at Gallery De Novo in 2006. This show was extremely well
received with most of her State House paintings selling
out.
A
year on and Lori held another exhibition, this time looking
at the various landforms of the Otago region. Her works
maintain her unique technique with diluted acrylic on canvas
topped with worked oil canvas. This technique she recently
adapted to record animal forms such as cows, bulls and sheep
- the combination of technique and subject matter has worked
incredibly well.
Lori has further developed her painting and sketching skill
to record a series of works looking at figures under the
water. Below are the pastel works from her third exhibition,
Treading Water (all framed with white conservation matt
boards and a white box frame).
