Lynn Taylor
Dunedin printmaker and visual artist Lynn Taylor lives and works from her studio at home on the Otago Peninsula. Ever since Lynn was a child she has had a special affinity with the sea.
I've always identified with the sea rather than the land, out on a boat or swimming, I have a real sense of being home.”
Lynn has lectured at Otago Polytechnic School of Art in print making, art theory, textiles and design and has been an artist in residence at a South Korean University.
She has held numerous exhibitions here and overseas and her work is held in many national and international private collections. From 2007 to 2008 she was co-director of the Salisbury House Gallery.
Lynn mixes the hand drawn with found objects manipulated to provide moody, evocative images that have become her signature. At times she might work with photopolymer plates used to capture an image off photographic slides then if the plates look flat, she often layers them with textured metal plates to give more depth. Prints are put through the press many times to achieve the desired effect and Lynn’s latest work features images from the interior of the Dunedin Chief Post Office.
