Nathan Shaw

Nathan was born in Palmerston, East Otago and brought up in Dunedin. He was educated at Kings High School and went on to the University of Otago.

Nathan describes his painting style as very anti-mainstream, choosing to express his ideas through the use of spray paint, markers, pencils, acrylic and some collage.

He is inspired by graffiti, stencils, graphic design, abstract and neo-expressionism and is influenced by artists such as: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Having, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns and Ralph Hotere.

Nathan has been exhibiting his work through the Cleveland Living Arts Centre since 2000, and has also had success selling in Auckland through the Original Art Sale since 2005. His unique work is creating a lot of interest from a wide mix of clients including first time art buyers and established collectors of art.
