Rod
Eales
Rod Eales is an artist based in Dunedin.
Along with working on her art, Rod works as an early childhood
teacher. She has been painting and exhibiting since 1980
when she completed a Diploma in Fine Arts at the Otago Polytechnic
School of Art.
Rod
has tutored in painting and life drawing for many years
and has been guest speaker/artist at various local art events.
She has great success in both solo and group exhibitions
throughout New Zealand and has been the recipient of the
Fred O'Neil Medallion (Otago Art Society) and the Macallister
Art Award (Anderson Park Gallery, Invercargill).
Rod's
works are characteristically local landscapes - portrayed
in delicately worked acrylics on board, or highly detailed
ink on paper. She manages to capture the essence of the
landscape and the atmosphere of the surrounding environment.
Gallery
De Novo is proud to represent Rod's work which have a very
strong following and sell to clients throughout New Zealand
as well as to international buyers. A British client who
traveled widely through out New Zealand purchased one of
Rod's works and described it as "the best work [she
had] seen that sums up the beauty and feeling of the unique
New Zealand landscape".
