Greg Lewis

Born in Invercargill in 1974, Greg Lewis is an Otago based artist who spends his time working in Dunedin and Glenorchy (central Otago).  He graduated with a BFA - majoring in painting in 1996, and has worked as an artist in residence, art teacher and Museum Intern.

He has achieved various awards for his artwork including a printmaking scholarship in 1991, named Craigs Young Contemporary of the Year in 2000,  has been a finalist in the James Wallace Art Awards as well as being awarded a German Scholarship to study in Berlin in 2004.

He has exhibited widely through out New Zealand and Australia, and has works held in private collections worldwide, as well as in public collections including the James Wallace Collection, Southland Museum and the Waiouru Army Museum Permanent Collection in New Zealand.

His work has been discussed in various art and army publications and Gallery De Novo is thrilled to now have available the work by this outstanding artist.  Greg works in oil paint, watercolour and pencil and all of his artworks are finished to an exceptional degree.  His oil paintings are regularly referred to as a masterpieces worthy of international museum status by numerous clients and visiting artists to Gallery De Novo, so the fact he is now working abroad in Europe with some significant shows and projects coming up is not surprising.
