Anna Stichbury
Anna Stichbury is a Wellington based artist, who attended Wellington School of Design and graduated with a Bachelor of Design, majoring in Textiles. Anna paints full-time from her home studio. Her mixed-media paintings are vibrant and rich in textural surfaces. The butterfly series are immensely popular and striking, indivdually painted on varnished card and mounted onto paper/board. The colour, reflection and 3-d shadow effect of these works make them a real stand out.
I have been painting and exhibiting for the last 20 years or so and have had many group and solo exhibitions throughout New Zealand and Australia. My paintings have been published in a range of NZ art calendars, diaries, articles and the book ‘New Zealands Favourite Art.
My works tend to be bold and feature intense hues. I strive through the use of colour and texture to create rich, vibrant paintings that have an immediate impact for the viewer. I am interested in the emotional response to a work. - Anna Stichbury
