Barry Robson

Barry Robson’s artistic career has spanned more than four decades. He has been the recipient of many awards including:

• New Zealand/Japan Student Exchange.
• First equal Castrol NZ Art Awards.
• Framework Gallery Trophy for Best Painting.
• Winner Open Award Invercargill Licensing Trust Art Awards.
• Best Landscape/Seascape Paraparaumu Rotary Art Awards.
• Work accepted for Save the Children Program.
• Winner of Heart of a Southlander Art Award.
• Winner of Environment Southland Art Award.
• Paintings published in Australian Artist Magazine.
• Best in show Paraparaumu Rotary Art Awards.
  
  A sought-after tutor, he remains loyal to the tradition of painting en plein air – working directly from nature. A dedication to and celebration of the environment is intrinsic to his art.
  
  He studied at Southland Technical Collage, 1963-66. Wellington Polytechnic School of Design, 1968-71. He tutored at The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art, Wellington, 2009-15.
